Aster celebrates International Nurses Day
DOHA: Aster DM Healthcare, the largest private healthcare provider in the State of Qatar celebrated the International Nurses Day to appreciate the role nurses play in delivering highest quality care to patients.
More than hundred nurses from Aster hospital and Aster Medical Centres gathered and took oath to mark International Nurses Day at Holiday Inn, Doha on May 11, 2018.
The Nurses day is marked globally on May 12 in memory of Florence Nightingale’s birthday. This year’s theme was “Nurses a Voice to Lead – Health is a Human right”.
Candles were lit and a cake was cut to recognise the contribution of nurses. Aster also organised interactive fun events for nurses, including a quiz, poster slogan competition, mime drama and dance competitions related to the Nurses Day.
The celebrations were coordinated by Regina Pinto, Head of Nursing; Aster DM Healthcare in the presence of Dr Sameer Moopen, Chief Executive Officer, Aster DM Healthcare; Dr Kapil Chib, Chief Operating Officer, Aster Hospital Doha; and other officials of Aster.
In the presidential address, Dr Sameer Moopen said, “Our highly trained nurses perform specialised roles and provide our patients with the most effective care. Nurses are a vital part of healthcare system. Nurses provide a great amount of support and advice to parents, relatives and friends along with patients. This event is to make them realise they are a binding force for all our medical centres and hospital.”
Regina Pinto said, “As the main part of health workforce, nurses is well positioned to drive efficiency, effectiveness and improvements while providing quality care and attaining optimal patient and population outcomes. I am extremely delighted to say that at Aster, we have some extraordinary nurses who are willing to go that extra mile to deliver best care to patients.”
