Pedder wins ‘India Cup’ LG Golf Tournament

Yohann Pedder played flawless golf to score an impressive 4-under Par to emerge victorious in the inaugural India Cup LG Golf Tournament organised by Indian Sports Centre held under the patronage of the Embassy of India at the Doha Golf Club over the weekend. Forty Indian golfers participated in the tournament sponsored by LG–Video Home, which was played on a Strokeplay & Team Scramble format.
Arnab Dutta also scored 4-under Par but was declared runner-up on countback. The ‘best gross’ prize was won by Arnav Jain, with Saad Kazi as the runner-up. The team of Sheji Valiyakath & D Anand won the Scramble competition while Sandeep Nanda & Prakash Iyer won second place.
Cherehzade Pedder won the ‘longest drive’, Manoj Megchiani won the ‘longest putt’, Kunal Bhatia won the ‘closest to rope’ and PK Mathew won the ‘closest to pin’ awards.
C V Rappai (CEO), Rohit Pandit (COO) and Mohammed Anis (GM)of LG-Video Home hosted a prize distribution function and dinner for all golfers and gave away prizes to the winners.
Ambassador of India to Qatar P Kumaran, an avid golfer himself, participated in the tournament and gave away the winner’s trophy to Pedder. The President of Indian Sports Centre (ISC) Nilangshu Dey addressed the gathering and proudly announced the new initiative of ISC in promoting Golf in the Indian community headed by Manoj Megchiani.
The General Secretary of ISC HabibunNabi thanked the organising committee comprising of Tournament Director Sanjay Jain and assisted by Ravi Shankar, Arnab Dutta & P K Mathew for their contribution to make the tournament success.
