Katara hosts ‘Friendship in Music’ concert
DOHA: Hungarian and Polish musicians enthralled the audience at “Friendship in Music” concert held at Katara Drama Theatre recently.
The show was hosted by Katara Cultural Village in cooperation with the embassies of Hungary and Poland and was attended by diplomats and a large number of audience from the Hungarian and Polish communities in Qatar in addition to other expatriate communities.
Hungarian Ambassador to Qatar Fodor Barnabas said that the concert was held to mark the strong relations between the two nations.
“We have good historical relations with Poland and music is an international language to present this friendship so we called our concert Friendship in Music,” he said.
He explained that Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia are called the “V4” countries which is an alliance of the four Central European countries including in culture and arts.
“This year, Hungary serves as president to this alliance so we decided to organise this concert to celebrate that,” Barnabas added.
Two musicians from both countries performed many traditional and folk music, in addition to some contemporary pieces.
Hungarian composer, orchestrator, conductor and performer Peter Pejtsik performed interesting items for the audience along with famous Polish pianist Dawid Nowaczyk.
Barnabas said it was the first time for the Hungarian embassy to organise a cultural event in Qatar and he is looking forward for more, as he praised the efforts of Katara which made the concert possible.
