Bengali performance take center-stage at Katara
Doha-Katara: The Cultural Village Foundation- Katara, in collaboration with the embassy of Bangladesh in Doha, organized a performance, titled ‘Bangladeshi Cultural Performance’ which was performed by a troupe from Shilpa Kala Academy last Sunday, May 14 at Katara’s Drama theater.
The Bangladeshi ambassador to Doha Ashud Ahmed expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, for its continuous support and efforts to host various art performances that shed light on different cultures. On this occasion, the ambassador presented a traditional Bangladeshi souvenir to Katara’s General Manager.
The troupe performed a variety traditional dances from different parts of Bangladesh, keeping the assembled audience entertained throughout the two-hour event.
The performers wore vivid traditional costumes that reflected the diversity, cultural and heritage of Bangladesh. The audience enjoyed the foot-tapping music and dance presentation, which were accompanied by the lyrics of some of the most prominent singers in Bangladesh.
In the run-up to the event, Katara organized an exhibition titled, ‘Bangladesh Art Painting Exhibition’, on the 3rd of May. The exhibit comprised of 26 fine-art paintings completed by 26 artists from the Academy of Art in Bangladesh including Sayed Jahangir, Jamal Ahmed, Mahmoud Al Haq, Ranjit Das, Sayed Abu Al Baraq, Al-Safi and Samarjit Roy Chowdhury. The paintings featured attractive colors that revealed the artists' ability to control colors and adapt them to express various feelings and stunning landscapes.
