Qatari innovators win six medals in Geneva

DOHA: Young Qatari innovators of Qatar Scientific Club won six medals at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, which concluded yesterday.

More than 600 inventors from 40 countries from all over the world participated in the exhibition.

The innovators bagged six medals, including four golds and two silvers, to add a new achievement to the Qatar Scientific Club at this global scientific forum.

The winners of the gold medals are Nasser Al Marri for his innovation portable house with the support of interior furniture, Mohsin Hussein Al Sheikh for his project “Oxy”-  a cooler for water tank, Rashed Al Mohannadi for his invention “Seeb”-a project designed to monitor health condition of the workers at work sites, and Mohamed Hassan Al Jufairi for his invention “Sidu”, an interactive robot that provides innovative instructions for deaf children to learn sign language at an important stage of growth.

The two winners of silver medals included Saleh Al Sufran for his electronic safety valve invention which prevents gas leakage by automatically closing the gas source once there is leakage.

The second silver medal was bagged by Mohammed Al Mohannadi and Salem Al Shahwani jointly for their invention which is an integrated system for combating fire in cars. They participated on behalf of the General Secretariat of the GCC. Hareb Al Jabri, Technical Director of that the Qatar Scientific Club said that the Club is determined to support youngsters by providing an appropriate environment for inventors to develop their ideas and turn them into innovations ready to participate and compete in such international forums. The participants thanked the Minister of Culture and Sports H E Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali and Department of Youth Activities at the Ministry for their continuous support to Qatari innovators to achieve more.

Rashid Al Rahimi, Director of the Qatar Scientific Club and Head of the Qatari delegation, expressed his happiness with the achievements of the delegation at the Exhibition. The achievements of Qatari youth in this exhibition is pride for us and for our country because we see our young innovators beat the innovators of several countries of the world and raise the flag of their country at global forums.

Al Rahimi thanked all the Qatari innovators for their advanced positions, where they made a clear effort from the beginning until they qualified and won. He said Qatari innovations have found themselves a unique place among the innovations from different countries adding that this indicates that young Qataris have the talent and ability to make a difference and offer inventions that benefit their country and serve their community.

He stressed that the achievements of Qatari youth in this exhibition is a great motivation to continue to support the youth to make more innovations.
