Doha Academy organises annual Holy Quran contest

DOHA: Doha Academy held ‘Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser Al  Thani 15th Annual Quran Competition’ as part of its continued efforts in spreading the Islamic culture and encouraging students to preserve and memorise The Holy Quran.

Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani’s Holy Quran Competition is sponsored by Dr. Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani, the school owner and preacher of Islamisation of foreign curricula in international schools operating in Qatar.

This year’s competition saw a remarkable development at all levels in terms of competition, awards, the number of participating schools and the number of participating students. It indicated that the competition has achieved its goal of spreading the book of God among school students.

The jury included Maulana Kurch from Macedonia, the head jurist; Sheikh Abdul Salam Hassan Qandil, Imam of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs; and Sheikh Yusri Al Sayyed Al Saqqa, Coordinator of Shariah Sciences at the Doha Academy School.

Seventy schools operating in Qatar, including independent schools, community schools, international and English schools, took part in the pre-competition phase this year.

As many as 188 students from the memorisers of Allah’s Book competed.
