DOHA: The National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency ‘Tarsheed’’s sixth annual celebration which scheduled to be held on April 18 , will honour the winners of Tarsheed Competitions including the latest one namely: The Sustainability Film Project competition.

The competition, an initiative of Tarsheed in cooperation with ConocoPhillips’ Global Water Sustainability Center (GWSC) and Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), aims to raise awareness and showcase the community’s diverse viewpoints on a sustainable future. Through Tarsheed Program Kahramaa aims to reduce electricity and water consumption in the country. With this new development, the dates of the competition have changed. The submission deadline is now April 16, and shortlisted candidates will be announced on April 17. The winners will be named and honoured at the Tarsheed event on April 18.

Due to popular demand, the Sustainability Film Project competition is now open to anyone, or any team of up to three members. Candidates can enter one of three categories: university students, high school students, and independent contributors, or non-students. There will be a first, second, and third place winner for each group.

Candidates can work individually or in teams to produce a 30 to 60 second video in English or Arabic. Videos should be focused on the topic of ‘water and energy conservation’ or ‘a sustainable lifestyle’. Winners are eligible to win different high-tech prizes.

For this inaugural competition, the entries will be judged by ConocoPhillips, Kahramaa, and QGBC representatives. On May 7, the first, second, and third place winners of each category will be recognized at a special awards ceremony at Qatar National Library.
