Winter camping season brings business opportunity
The five-month long winter camping season that will begin from November 1 is expected to create hundreds of business opportunities as many new camping sites have been added for providing good and services to the campers this year.
“The spaces for shops will be provided at many camping sites including Sealine, Al Ghariaya, Zikrit, Baruq, Al Mazrouah, Roadat Rashid Road, Al Rifa Road, Al Khrara Road, said Saleh Hasan Al Kuwari (pictured), Director of Natural Reserve Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
To avail the opportunity, the business owners can apply at Qatar Green Center (QGC) located at Al Dafna opposite Tower Mall, Al Kuwari told The Peninsula.
Al Kuwari said the registration has started and so far, the Center has received 62 requests from business owners seeking licenses for opening outlets at Sealine.
“The highest number of requests 37 are related eateries, cafeteria, and sweet shops followed by six applications for tyre shops,” said Al Kuwari.
“Five applications each are for selling sanitary items and firewood. The center also has received four requests for motorbike repairing shops, two outlets for setting up tents and sheds and selling items related to it. Three requests are also about services,” he added.
The registration will be continue until we receive enough requests to provide goods and services to targeted areas, he added.
Speaking on other new services to campers, Al Kuwari said that the Ministry also plans to provide water to camping areas in collaboration with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
To check the prices of goods and services at camping areas, Al Kuwari said that the Ministry of Economy and Commerce will cooperate in this regards and inspectors from consumer protection department will be making inspection visits to check the prices.
