ICBF’s free medical camp benefits over 350 workers

DOHA: The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Qatar, in association with the Ministry of Public Health and Abeer Medical Center, conducted its 33rd Free Medical Camp for workers at Industrial Area. The camp aimed at assisting the workers in Industrial Area.

The Medical Camp was inaugurated by the Ambassador of India to Qatar, P Kumaran, in the presence of Dr Mohammed Aleem, Third Secretary - Labour and Community Welfare - and CO of ICBF; Devis Edukulathur, ICBF President; P N Baburajan, Vice President of ICBF; Arvind Patil, immediate former president of ICBF; N V Kader, past president ICBF; Dr. Rangaprasad, Medical Director - Al Abeer Medical Center; Dr. Nithyanand, Head of Operations - Al Abeer Medical Center; Ashraf K. P Managing Director, Wellcare Group; Managing Committee members of ICBF and other dignitaries.

The camp provided free medical consultations to more than 350 workers from various labour camps and companies in Industrial Area.  Free cholesterol check-up was included for the first time in addition to blood pressure, blood sugar and BMI checking. While screening was done for several occupational diseases, a significant number of people were tested positive for hypertension followed by diabetes and joint pains.

Dr. Rangaprasad assured the attendees that they would receive treatment at discounted fees when they come for follow up visits.  Team of dedicated specialised doctors including dentist and paramedical services were arranged by Abeer Medical Center.  Wellcare group provided pharmaceutical support and free medicines.

Ambassador Kumaran spent considerable time with the workers, addressed their concerns and assured them of all possible assistance from the embassy in resolving their concerns with respective authorities.

The workers expressed their gratitude to ICBF for the opportunity to express their grievances and concerns on a one-on-one basis directly to the ambassador.

The camp was supported by the Music Lovers Group, founded by Ganesh Srinivasan. They sponsored quality breakfast for all workers, medical staff and volunteers for the medical camp.

Voluntary services were offered by a dedicated team from VIQAYAA along with other volunteers.

President of ICBF, Devis Edukulathur reiterated that ICBF shall provide free health cards to deserving persons.
