‘The Orange Fortress’ will target top three teams as they begin second phase with a game against 10th-placed Al Kharaitiyat today.
“We are sad that we dropped some points unnecessarily towards the end of it and went out of the top-four bracket,” Umm Salal coach Mahmoud Jaber ahead of the match adding his team’s first aim is ti regain 4th place from Al Sailiya.
“We are keen to close the gap with the top three sides Al Duhail, Al Sadd and Al Rayyan, and also displace Al Sailiya from the fourth position.
“During the break, we gave chances to some of our youngsters in the QSL Cup. I hope my wards are now game for the challenges in the remaining part of the season.
“But then, we were not the only side who dropped points. Even top teams dropped points at some stage. We worked more on the psychological aspects of the players during the break even though they are tough mentally.
“We felt the need of a playmaker who can double as attacking midfielder. That is why we have signed Tunisian Oussama Darragi.”
