Qatar SC, Al Gharafa and Al Kharaitiyat will be targetting back-to-back wins as the QSL Cup begins its second round today.
All these teams, following their victories in last week’s first round, will eye the top spot in Group A which is currently led by Qatar SC on goal difference.
In the first match of the day, Al Kharaitiyat will meet Al Khor at the Al Gharafa Stadium with kick -off set for 5.35pm.
The table-leaders Qatar SC meet Al Sailiya at the Soud bin Abdelrahman Stadium in the second game of the day, while the Al Duhail-Al Gharafa match kicks off at the Al Khor Stadium at the same time.
The tournament’s first round, held last week, saw Qatar SC registering a big 5-2 victory over Al Duhail, while Al Kharaitiyat defeated Al Sailiya 3-1. Al Gharafa’s 2-1 win came against Al Khor.
In Group B, Al Rayyan and Al Markhiya are followed by Al Arabi and Umm Salal, each having one point. Al Ahli and Al Sadd failed to score.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Stars League Management yesterday decided to reschedule the QSL Cup Round 2 match between Al Sadd and Al Rayyan, which was originally scheduled for tomorrow, to Thursday, October 12, 2017.
According to report on the club web site, the decision was made following a request by Al Sadd, who have a friendly scheduled for today against Turkish side Trabzonspor.
The Al Sadd Al Rayyan game will kick off at 5.35pm at the Al Khor Stadium.
The fixtures saw most teams fielding Under-23 players with an aim of providing youngsters with opportunities, so they can gradually graduate to their first teams. Some sides, struggling to gain ground after the QNB Stars League’s first three rounds, found the tournament as a perfect platform to prepare the players.
